Volunteering at Literary Leftovers

If you’ve landed on this page, we’re grateful that you’d consider donating some of your time to the shop. With the help of volunteers in our community, we’ve made amazing things happen.

This is a symbiotic relationship. We want the arrangement to enrich everyone, and we have a variety of things that we could use your help with. Because it takes time to train someone, we’re hoping that you’ll be able to commit to volunteering at least a couple of times a month, for at least a year’s commitment.

You can fill out our questionnaire at this link. We’ll review the applications and if it’s a good fit, we’ll get back to you with an orientation day.

Please review the Code of Volunteer Conduct below before submitting. Once you have submitted, it is assumed you agree to the code.

Please note that we cannot accept volunteers under the age of 18.

Code of Volunteer Conduct

Volunteers agree to conduct themselves:

Punctually: arrive on time, leave on time

Politely: address staff and patrons respectfully at all times; mind personal space and surroundings; respect and cultivate the peaceful, warm atmosphere we maintain in the shop

Directly: let us know quickly about any scheduling conflicts or interruptions, and bring any questions or concerns to a manager (Corrie, Eily) or the owner (Heather)

Professionally: mind the commitments above; dress cleanly and neatly in clothes suitable for bending, squatting, and lifting; accept constructive criticism; use appropriate language; and refrain from presenting any political, religious, or social opinions as representative of the position of Literary Leftovers or affiliates
